Crafting a Scrying Mirror

Posted by Fr. A. Kharubu on September 16, 2009

This one is pretty simple and it will be much kinder to your wallet.

1.Just go to the Hobby Store (I went to HobbyLobby) and purchase a picture frame (with glass in it) of your choosing. The thicker the glass the better.

2. Purchase some black (gloss) spray paint. I used Krylon Fusion paint as it states specifically that it can be used on glass and does not require priming. (Note: you definitely do not prime anything on this…)

3. Wipe the glass down with some sort of windex and let dry. It is important that you do not touch the glass on the side that you intend to paint. The oils from your fingers may mess it up. Allow to Dry.

4. Layout some newspapers put the frame glass on it. You would consult the instructions listed on the can but generally the first coat is light. You would allow it to semi dry (15 mins for Krylon) between coats. Just give it several light coats until it is completely covered with a decent layer. Allow this to completely dry (an hour for Krylon).

5. Be careful as you place this into the frame. Most frames have cardboard inside of them, I used this to cover the back painted surface after it was placed back into the frame.

Done!

You can come out with some very impressive mirrors and it won’t cost you a fortune!

Faith From a Sorcerer’s Perspective

Posted by Fr. A. Kharubu on September 13, 2009

Faith can be a dangerous thing if applied incorrectly.  So we will distinguish between faith and what one might call “blind faith”. Blind Faith is the blindfold that the Shepard uses on their Christian herds. (“All the better not to see that you will soon be dinner”) but more annoyingly yet it becomes the crutch for those without the courage to seek the actual truth of the matter. (Or too lazy but mostly courage) The current prevailing religion programs this into the young early on, not to question their beliefs, just believe. There are various reasons why this is so effective. If in one example your dear grandmother, whom you love or cherish the memory of, is the propagator of this lie then there becomes an emotional attachment to the “Blind Faith”. This is why religious debates are so emotional and less based on fact or truth. Also, when the “early brainwashing” occurs, it is driven so very deeply that there is some being that is going to pound you into shreds and then send you off to be burned forever if you do not submit to the belief. (but loving right?) As this occurs over the generations it becomes even further compounded into societies collective consciousness. Early on, and likely even in modern times, it was and is used as a means of controlling others. And, now one must trace to the roots of the lie.

It may also be said that if one learns faith by living, it could be that they learn WHAT to have faith in.
When one has hope, then they do not despair. Despair isn’t the lack of faith it is the lack of hope. Life can take you to places which will rob you of happiness, rob you of many things really; one can say that to believe that there are better days to come, can be called faith. If that belief is in yourself, on mathematical probabilities, whatever really, perhaps that is a better place to put it. At some point, I would substitute the word intuition in the place of the word faith.

You can only despair, if you allow yourself to despair. In a situation in which one cannot find any reason to have hope, then they do not look hard enough. Some of the greatest in history have endured much. In the times that one encounters the seemingly endless desert sands, and happiness seems to be the oasis that proves to be the mirage time and time again, it is the Will to continue forward that must steel you.

In Magick it has been said that the subject of your belief is less important, than the belief itself.

In Magick we seek to strengthen the faculties and the Will. The use of the word belief/faith could be faith in one’s own ability to accurately perceive what has transpired. One works from their own subjective experience. Over time one learns how to perceive clearly and to record or remember what has transpired. One begins at some point to have a GNOSTIC belief or faith based off of what they have experienced.

The key here is not allowing fanciful imaginations to carry you away. At the same time you must be able to experience the very subtle things and clearly record the happenings even though you may not have a clue what it means at that time. I personally have had experiences in which I have heard things spoken but could only record it as it seemed to be a very random thing. I have yet to distinguish whether some things are the “loud” thought processes of others, some mimicking spirit or otherwise. There are other times in which it is unmistakable. The thought I am trying to get through is that without the pains of strengthening the faculties, with being a tireless philosopher and clearing the looking glass it would be an ill placed faith, to believe that what is experienced is even accurate or even true. In the end, it is faith in the self. If you do not have faith in yourself it could be that you know deep down inside that you have a weakness that has not been addressed or that fanciful thoughts have taken root.
